Teaching Interests:
I have a particular interest in teaching an introductory course
to initiate novice students into computer science problems and techniques.
Because this course is the first
exposure to computer science for the students,
a solid foundation should be constructed for future studying.
Of course, for any of the computer science core courses,
I am prepared to teach with enthusiasm.
In addition,
my education and research background strongly equips me for teaching upper
level courses in numerical analysis, scientific and parallel computing,
computational geometry, as well as logic and related discrete mathematics
topics.
My goal in any course I undertake would be to put into practice the
methodologies described in my teaching statement, while ensuring a strong
integration with the curriculum of the computer science department as a whole.
Research Interests:
My research work at the University of Kentucky has been focused on software
environment and scientific computing.
Specifically,
I have been developing preconditioning algorithms and software packages for
both parallel and uniprocessor systems.
Thus far, my research program has been exciting and rewarding.
I hope to continue to pursue a general research program in software
environment, scientific computing, parallel computing, and high performance
scientific computing at a university.
My research has fit well with other areas as I have significant
collaborative experience with researchers from computer vision areas.
The collaboration enriches my research program and leads to new ideas and
results.
These research directions can be adapted to provide students with various
research opportunities while also complementing the existing research
strengths of the department.
